It is important to understand when you decide to perform a DNA Paternity Test utilizing a cotton swab to collect the sample how the process works. Today, we will discuss how the DNA collection process actually works.

1. Once you receive your Home DNA Test kit or get a DNA Sample Collector to collect your sample the process will be the same.
2. First, remove the first swab by slowly pulling it out of the protective package. Make sure you do not touch any part of the cotton tip with your hand, and only touch the shaft with your fingers.
3. Swab the inside surface of the right cheek by firmly brushing and twirling the swab around the cheek area for 30 seconds. You may place the opposite hand on the outside of the cheek to ensure that firm pressure is being applied with swab.
4. Place the swab into the corresponding Sample ID envelope.
5. Repeat steps 3 & 4 with the second swab on the left cheek.
6. Then repeat the entire process again for each person involved with the Paternity Test.

Note: Legal Paternity Tests require photo ID copies and current photograph will be taken at the time of collection. Also, it is important know that a unbaised third party like a DNA Sample Collector will need to collect your samples. This is the biggest difference between a Non Legal Paternity Test and Legal Paternity Test.
